Summary/Abstract: The publication can become an important source of information for university students of pedagogical as well as physical education faculties. It offers a comprehensive description of topics which introduce the reader to the history of sport, the specialist nomenclature, the concept of Olympic education, interaction in coach–athlete relations, the educational significance of the role of coaches and instructors and their importance in proper upbringing. In the introduction, the author writes, “In European higher education, sport pedagogy has been recognized as an important academic discipline within the field of sport sciences; its aim is to support the educational endeavors of people participating in sports training and other forms of physical activity, regardless of place and time of their implementation throughout a person’s life.”The opinion just quoted is the best explanation of the need to present a study of the topic in the form of this handbook.
