- Summary/Abstract:This paper presents research on Romanian architects who emigrated to Israel. It is about pioneer women architects like Elzy Lazăr and Dora Gad who previously studied in Vienna, but also about Marcel Janco, who founded an artist village in Israel after contributing to International style heritage in Bucharest through both buildings and writings. Notably in Israel before becoming established Dora Gad worked with another architect with Romanian background, Oskar Kaufmann. Research methods included consulting apart of scientific literature and site visits also literary writings, visiting exhibitions, looking to the paintings, and drawing story maps. The work is at its begin and further steps are comparative architecture and looking to architecture in games.

- Summary/Abstract:Constructions are the primary vector in the process of economic and social development and modernization. Estimating the costs of construction projects with high accuracy in the conceptual phase of project development is crucial for feasibility studies. However, a number of difficulties arise when performing the cost estimation in the conceptual phase. The major problems faced are the lack of preliminary information, the lack of the database on the costs of construction projects, the lack of data, the lack of adequate cost estimation methods and the involvement of uncertainties. The main objective of this research is to use state-of-the-art techniques to estimate the construction costs of the construction projects, to emphasize the importance of proper monitoring of the construction and to examine the processes of controlling the existing costs. This will help all staff realize the importance of construction monitoring and cost control. Cost estimation is an essential component of construction projects. In construction, almost all clients are interested in obtaining fully functional facilities completed in time, cost, quality and scope. A builder who is able to build within the estimated time and budget, at the right standards and scope is an excellent builder. Cost control is a process in which the construction cost of the project is managed by the best methods and techniques, so that the contractor does not suffer losses when carrying out the project activities.

- Summary/Abstract:With the evolutionary innovation in construction sciences, both design and construction methods have become very sophisticated. The way in which seismic design of buildings has been carried out in the past, and the influence of historical earthquakes on design, has highlighted the complex nature of seismic movement and seismic response of structures in contrast to the approach of structure modeling and seismic calculation. There was a chance to develop and, especially, to apply new calculation methods, to verify the post-elastic structural capacities, much more accurate, meant to replace the traditional calculation methods, which have repeatedly proved deficient. A new line of research has been defined in the field of seismic engineering, trying to apply nonlinear structural analysis, to provide more accuracy and safety to new buildings, and which could predict the collapse mechanism of a structure, as well as the coherence between the methods of analysis and design.

- Summary/Abstract:The fundamental goal in approaching multimodality in transport is to integrate all modes of transport in an optimal, sustainable and ethical system. The implementation of intermodal services in the field of tourism will contribute to the increase of travel options, as well as to the provision of comfortable services, while increasing the efficiency of the transport system as a whole. The objective of the research is to identify and evaluate efficient IT solutions for calculating travel times in the integrated combined transport system of national road and rail infrastructure and the forecast demand in the field of public transport of people to tourist destinations. The proposed methodologies for defining IT solutions are based on the use of Geographic Information Systems, both in vector format corroborated with data on general transit specifications (GTFS) and in raster format by creating a continuous cost surface model, using all transport nodes.

- Summary/Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic produced a series of drastic short-term changes in everyone's life and generated a professional debate regarding the long-term impact it will have on the public space. In the context in which we are in the twelfth month since its debut worldwide and nine months after the first measures in Romania, we can see its effects especially for those cities that were vulnerable until then: shrinking cities. Between March and December 2020, a number of specialized articles were published in the hope of identifying certain patterns of reconfiguration of socio-economic processes and the impact of measures imposed by the health crisis on public spaces. This paper uses classical methods of synthesis, analyzing the literature published in this interval to identify the first signs of pandemic effects in city life, especially shrinking cities. The results show that, in fact, shrinking cities are favored in the pandemic context in terms of phenomena that benefit them, by limiting brain drain to magnet cities and accelerating programs of projects to increase the quality of life by increasing the quality of the urban environment. In conclusion, the measures that can be implemented by local authorities to use public space in the most efficient way, taking into account the current conditions imposed by social distancing, are presented.
