Summary/Abstract: Thanks to a reading of a number of works from recent Polish literature, Non-contemporaneity reveals the fundamental tension between an unnervingly integrated and compelling contemporaneity and various forms of non-contemporaneity. In Polish literature, which is heavily influenced by historical experience, there is a new sensitivity to the experience of time. A mature form of asynchronous life emerges in this, the expressions of which are described in the monograph, to show ultimately how Polish literature enters into a plastic time that is not without social hope.
