Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to show the influence of the thoughts of the Second Vatican Council on the philological aspects of contemporary translations of the Holy Scriptures into Polish. The council's instructions aimed at searching for new methods and ways of bringing the inspired word to the faithful were reflected in the qualitative changes taking place in the field of the language and style of Polish post-war translations of the Holy Scriptures. The shape of the contemporary language of post-war biblical translations is the result of a compromise between centuries-old experiences and the tradition of the biblical Polish language and the challenges of modern times.
