Summary/Abstract: This contribution is a presentation of Jean Baptiste de la Borde’s work L’art de bien prononcer en françois à l’usage de la noblesse polonaise, published in Warsaw in 1765. The manual presents the rules of pronunciation of French vowels, with their translations into Polish and examples, transcribed and likewise translated into Polish. In addition to that there are 27 exercises aimed at explaining the pronunciation of French consonants, which contain short texts with their translation and transcription into Polish. The presented work is an interesting didactic testimony of the 18th century and at the same time a document of the history of the French language.
