Summary/Abstract: This paper is based on qualitative analysis of videorecords and in-depth interviews with 8 student teachers. It describes metaphorical forms of cooperation between student teachers and their mentors. In these roles of cooperation, autonomy of student teacher and control of mentor differs. We introduce three complementare roles of student teachers and their mentors: partner-partner, drowning person-rescuer, fare dodger-inspector.
