Summary/Abstract: Intercultural education is aimed at promoting diversity as social wealth. Such an understanding of diversity finds the purpose of education in the reflection, understanding and richness of the relationship that we enter while transmitting knowledge and values. If we want to educate young people as independent, brave, empathic individuals, then we need to promote intercultural dimensions through teaching content and the teaching process. Through this paper we want to contribute to the reconstruction of school relations emphasizing the need to recognize and develop culturally responsive and inclusive methods of teaching and improving school culture. Considering that, we have analyzed the curriculum of the Society/Culture/Religious course in elementary school education in Canton of Sarajevo.Through analysis and description, we have recognized the intercultural dimensions (ethics, coexistence, solidarity, respect etc.) in the curricula and inquired teachers about their opinion on probability of intercultural dimension being present in education. We had a look at teaching materials that teachers use for this course, as well. It was noticed that intercultural dimensions were (not) present in the curricula, teaching materials and practice. The results of the research will contribute to revising the approaches in promotion of intercultural dimensions in education of youth. As most of the European education systems still do not recognize intercultural dimension as an important component of education, our intention is to provide guidelines for intercultural educational concept created for all students, not only the culturally different ones.
