Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the current situation of the business environment in tourism in Slovakia based on selected aspects, indicate the strengths and weaknesses of the business environment in the tourism market in terms of view of companies operating in the sector. We use primary and secondary sources. Using primary research, we have surveyed the current state of the tourism industry. The purpose of the questionnaire survey was to determine how tourism businesses in Slovakia perceive the state of the business environment in tourism in Slovakia. By the data interpreting, we applied the theoretical methods of scientific investigation, the method of abstraction, methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparison and generalization method. We have compiled a summary of the strengths and weaknesses arising from the current state of the business environment in tourism. In the case of the strengths we have identified four factors (inflation rate, availability of production factors, the availability of credit resources for entrepreneurs and interaction between schools and businesses). Respondents have included sixteen factors into the weaknesses (current political situation, the system of public administration, frequent changes in legislation, level of corruption, the level of administrative burden, labor legislation, tax regulations, tax rates and duties, qualifications and experience of the workforce, the level of infrastructure, egovernment, the principle of "one-stop-shop" procurement, law enforcement and judicial independence, time and cost complexity of the process of starting a business and the level of support for start-ups).
