Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the reform of criminal law and procedure and to their synchronization with European standards. The necessity of changes adequate to the modern counteraction of contemporary crime is emphasized, however not the indisputable way in which these changes should be implemented. The changes are examined and analysed, covering three main areas: institutional building, criminal procedure and substantive criminal law.
