Summary/Abstract: The publication of the Maritime Doctrine of Russia represents a firm statement of Moscow's aspirations for the upcoming years. With a tone indicating confrontation against NATO, and a clear definition of its objectives and threats, the document shows a notable evolution from the previous version in 2015. Additionally, the Arctic now emerges as a region of utmost importance for Moscow's economic interests. However, the ambitions presented in the document do not seem to align with the current reality, raising questions about the actual feasibility of Moscow's objectives given the specific circumstances it currently faces. The article first compares the Russian 2022Maritime Doctrine with the 2015 version and then explores the implications of the new document for Arctic security.
