Summary/Abstract: During the World War II, Bulgaria became involved with active battles after 9 September 1944. The first Bugarian army led by Gen. Vladimir Stoychev, took part in the Drvin epic and the Muroperation – one of the most important battles in the final stage of the war. Volunteer units formed by Decree No.1/10.09.1044 of the Council of Ministers and by a decision of the Ministry of War from 11 September 1944 also took part in the composition of this army. One of these combatant formations was the Vasil Levski Volunteer Guard. After special preparation and selection for the front, a squad was sent. It consisted 52 people, who were commanded by Feldfebel – School Pencho Penchev. TheGuards are included in the 31st infantry Regiment. It was included in the 12th company of the First Bulgrian Army. There were battles in Chekel, Kishbayom and Hawks. The Vasil Levski Volunteer Guard gave 10 casulties and their commander. After the end of the World War II, the Guard took part into the Bulgarian Army.
