Summary/Abstract: Preschool children can practise their communication skills and emotions more freely way during their play and story times in kindergarten. The didactics of the field of Language and Communication in early childhood education, regardless of time and curriculum, has always proposed methodical guidelines and suggestions of educational content for the development of communication in children, and a large part of this content is represented by children's stories. "The moral of a story is more effective if it is discreet, not explicit. Good literature for children regards its receivers with respect and on equal footing" (Moraru, 2022, p. 15). The story, as a basis for receiving and practicing values through classic and current content from children's literature, subsequently also contributes to the development of children's expressive communication, motivating them to express in words what they see, hear and feel. In this sense, the „daily reading time” spent by the teachers with the pre-school children is an effective way of stimulating children's expressive communication development.
