Summary/Abstract: This article examines the role of collocation competence as an essential componentof translation competence. It emphasizes the importance of lexical competence and the knowledgeand correct use of collocations in the translation process. The theoretical insights emphasize theneed for translators and interpreters to have well-founded collocation skills in order to accuratelyconvey the nuances and idiomatic expressions of a language. These observations contribute to thefurther development and optimization of the translation process and underline the relevance ofcollocation competence for the quality and accuracy of translations
