Summary/Abstract: Psychosomatic disorders correlate strongly with alexithymia, a trait thought to represent a common transdiagnostic risk factor for psychological-physical health problems. As a personality trait associated with deficits in cognitive processing and affect regulation, alexithymia is closely related to attachment quality. This article highlights the importance of understanding the role of attachment and alexithymia in the context of psychosomatic health. Exploring the interactions between attachment, alexithymia and psychosomatics may contribute to the development of more effective prevention and intervention methods.
