Summary/Abstract: The Spitz family, originally from Lišnice, played a significant role in the Jewish community of Mostecko from the 18th century onwards. Their journey began with Isaak Spitz, who settled in the region in 1768, and continued through successive generations who moved to Most and other nearby towns. The family was involved in various trades, including commerce and milling, and contributed to the local economy and social life. Prominent members like JUDr. Josef Spitz and Emanuel Spitz held leadership positions in the Jewish religious community, overseeing significant developments such as the construction of synagogues and community buildings. Despite facing challenges, including the Holocaust, the Spitz family demonstrated resilience and adaptability. Their legacy is preserved through detailed archival records, highlighting their contributions to the Jewish heritage of the region. The study underscores the importance of documenting and preserving the history of Jewish families in Bohemia.
