Summary/Abstract: The present paper is only a first step in our research, and later the paper will serve asan essential working tool for defining somatic phraseologisms in the first chapter of the researchthesis. As a methodological basis we have first of all used the ideas and observations of researcherswho have directly pronounced on somatic phraseologisms in different languages. These word combinations, which are part of the human body, conceal part of the history of language and are the objectof our research. The overview of phraseology and the specifics of somatics, the explanation of somatic phraseologies, the analysis of definitions and written sources provide a general approach to thephenomenon under study – somatic phraseologies
