Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to examine precedent expressions that appear in Bulgarian movies and have left a mark on Bulgarian speech patterns. The historical framework of the excerpted material spans over two decades – from the very first white-and-black film, “Bulgaran Is Gallant,” to the end of the 20th century. The text explores the connotative charge of said precedents, their semantic scope and speech functions in the Bulgarian language. Despite first appearing over half a century ago, such expressions still function to this day.
