Summary/Abstract: The text discusses the financing of the Internal Revolutionary Organisation founded by Levski. The financial sources, the accounting documentation, the reasons that led to the revolutionary terror are indicated. Levski was the first to realize the idea that the Bulgarian people should not wait for their liberation from outside, but should win it for themselves by rising up in a general uprising. The aim was to liberate Bulgaria through „a moral revolution and with arms.“ For him, only a well-organized and prepared revolution has the sense and chance to succeed. And only such a liberation movement would preserve Bulgaria from foreign encroachments and make us masters of our destiny.
