Summary/Abstract: Knowledge and capability of its improvement and application in the creation of new products and services are the main source of competitive advantage for today’s international companies. The concept of knowledge management opens up new opportunities for companies involved in global supply chains. This report presents the models and mechanisms for knowledge exchange within the global supply chains, and identifies the advantages and challenges related to this exchange. A thesis is argued that effective knowledge management throughout the supply chain leads to improvement of the performance and competitive advantages of companies in the chain.
