Summary/Abstract: With the aid of intertextuality and cultural-memory theory, this paperan alyses connections between the chronicles of eighteenth-century Bosnian Franciscans and current (20th and 21th centuries) Bosnian-Herzegovinan and Croatian literature (e.g. the artistic prose of Ivo Andrić, Miljenko Jergović ,Josip Mlakić, Ivan Lovrenović, Feđa Šehović, Dževad Karahasan). The paper shows that the Franciscans are particular ‘sites of memory’(Pierre Nora) within Bosnian and Croatian literature, that current literary production gives new meanings to the Franciscan literary tradition in a new framework, and lastly it suggests possible models for and draws conclusions about quoted dialogue.
