Summary/Abstract: In Bulgaria the crafts have been honored since ancient times, and the craftsmen - some of the most respected people in the society. The skills to do something useful, to create something that people would need to develop and improve themselves over time, gradually entering the system of non-formal and formal education, and, consequently, in the formal education. The beginning was set by the so-called craft schools, which at the end of the 20th century were generally called vocational schools. The training in these schools is regulated, and the management of vocational education and65training is covered by an institutional framework established at national, regional and local level.
