Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the results of empirical studies conducted on University of Zielona Góra. The aim of the study was to diagnose the extent to which students are characterised by being entrepreneurial. It is one of the three pillars, in addition to innovation and creativity, on which a knowledge-based economy relies. Enterprising person is creative, independent, persistent and consistent in achieving goals, has high self-esteem and is willing to take responsibility not only for themselves but also for others. Such person should not be afraid to make decisions (often risky ones), can work in a group, as well as should know how to recognise opportunities where others may not see them. The survey results indicate that students have an entrepreneurial spirit, and are willing to start their own businesses and take risk associated with it. They are driven by different motivations and recognise the limitations associated with running a business.
