Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the principles which the autobiographical narrative builds on. The focus is on M. Bakhtin`s views and their conceptual juxtaposition to the views on “autobiography” of P. Bourdieu, D. Verin and P. Ricœur. The study defends the thesis that through the definitely teleological and reflexive organization of the narrative about himself or herself, the autobiographer has the most immediate opportunity to defend their own identity on the basis of the narration they have taken upon themselves.
