Specific Nature of the New Profession ”Data Protection Officer” in the Context of Digitalization

Summary/Abstract: Due to the complexity of the processing of personal data caused by globalization and the increase of information flows in both the public and the private sector, it is necessary to study the specifics of the new profession of Data Protection Officer in order to ensure effective implementation of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016. Based on the policy of information security and protection of personal data provided by the Regulation, requirements for defining the Data Protection Officer are analyzed, as well as his or her basic duties and responsibilities. In conclusion, conclusions and recommendations on application and compliance with the rules of Community law are made in the context of confidentiality and reliability of personal data of individuals.
