About translation of Russian predicates of state into Polish language

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to describe ways of translating Russian predicates of state which belong to a separate part of speech in Russian grammar, known as the “category of state”. The scope of use of these predicates is much wider than in Polish language and an easiness of creating them in belles-lettres and in a common speech is noticeable. There exist predicates which are problematic to translate into Polish, like for example: совестно, конфузно, обидно, оскорбительно, тревожно, досадно and so on. Examples for the analysis were taken from Russian literary pieces and their translations into Polish language.
