Summary/Abstract: In 1983, the Guarani translation of Reportáž, psaná na oprátce [Report from the gallows] of Julius Fučík (1903–1943) was published in Prague. The Guaraní version was prepared in collaboration of a Paraguayan exile with the Czech publishing house Orbis. Apart from the unique historical circumstances, the translation is an interesting contribution to the process of the formation of the Guarani as a literary language and a target language of translations, because it is one of the first complete works translated into Guarani. The paper presents the historical, political and ideological circumstances of the creation of this virtually unknown translation.
