Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to show that contemporary school needs to change its attitude towards foreign language teaching on account of the demands and competences desired on the market. The process is expected to take effect, which depends on whether a student is involved in the lesson, active and motivated. The role of the teacher seems to be very important in this context. He must plan the lesson appropriately, first of all by setting the goals. Then, the examples of beyond the textbook exercises will be given. This kind of exercises activate students and develop their cooperation and thinking skills as well as creativity.
