Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the development of road transport in the context of the demand for workers, which is unevenly distributed across the European Union. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of the amendment of EU legislation on posting of workers on unemployment in selected EU countries. The article presents the characteristics of unemployment in the largest economies of the European Union. The introduction of the new EU directive is aimed at equalizing road transport salaries in all EU countries, which is expected to result in the loss of competitive advantage of companies from Central and Eastern Europe. The research methods used in the article are the analysis of literature and data of the Central Statistical Office and Eurostat.
