Summary/Abstract: The translation of names of institution into specialized texts, in particular in certified translations, rarely becomes a subject matter of interest to translators. This article aims to provide an insight into the proposed ways of dealing with the names of institutions in certified translations, which, as a particular type of specialized translation, require maximum fidelity to the source text. Theoretical considerations on the translation of institutional names were confronted with the choices of translators, which were analyzed on the basis of the collected translations certified in the Polish-German language pair.
