Summary/Abstract: The author analyzed two books on travel by Hanna Mortkowicz (entitled: Po obu stronach szosy – On both sides of the road; Na drogach Polski – On the roads of Poland), both referring to the geographical and travel series of the Jakub Mortkowicz Publishing Society. She refers to the characteristics of travel literature according to other researchers in order to show the specifi city of both titles, including narrative models (especially their multi-levelity character), as well as linguistic devices to achieve the real experience of the imagined space by the recipient. The author also draws attention to the encouragement for the recipient to open to otherness, which is inscribed in both works.
