Summary/Abstract: The article endeavours – while utilizing methods elaborated in the field of comparative studies – to answer the following question: To what extent the position of medieval poet was similar or dissimilar to that of other creators of the same period: writers, but also architects and sculpturers? What creates a basis for this very inquiry is the analysis of Oswald von Wolkenstein’s works, who described his peregrinations across Europe, Asia, and Africa, during which he efficiently endorsed his artistic performances to foreign knights and kinglings and who, at the same time, may serve as an example of a typical man of his times according to opinions of medieval scholars.
