Summary/Abstract: The influence of the modern family on the life careers of women and men is indisputable. Every person either used to belong or belongs to this institution. However, the strength of its influence depends both on the form of social ties connecting family members and the institutional and structural features that the family possesses. To properly describe the modernization processes to which a family is subjected, its definition must first be established. This is due to the multitude of forms the modern family takes on. It should also be determined who can be included as a family member. As a result, it will be possible to indicate what kind of obligations individuals have in different family types.
