Summary/Abstract: The text is devoted to the interpretation skills demonstrated by students taking part in the competition called “The Polish Language Olympiad”. The texts prepared under the supervision of teachers (preliminary works), as well as texts written during the second stage of the competition, enable teachers to point to students’ typical mistakes in text organisation and lacking skills in interpreting literary works. Mistakes in students’ texts indirectly point to mistakes made by teachers themselves in the lessons devoted to interpretation of literary texts. Inaccuracies in analysed texts pertain not only to text structure but also the proportion between text introduction, main body and closing as well as argumentation and style.
