Summary/Abstract: The main question of the text relates to the meaning of selected practices, connected with the corporate image of science (expertivity, formalization, bureaucracy, parameterization, productivity) and its consequences for the quality of conducting research as well as its reliability. The category of reliability was treated as a cultural factor that is associated with the sense of the activities that are undertaken and it was confronted with the institutional rules of their assessment (rankings, control and evaluation procedures) approved by the “corporation of science”. The ethical problems associated with the cognitional perspectives which are derived from this confrontation were illustrated as well. Moreover, the methodological references – inhibition and tolerantism – connected with popularization of the the institutional syndrome of corporate correctness are discussed.
