Summary/Abstract: In recent years, there has been observed a growing importance of the explanatory value of the civilisational paradigm in political science studies. The civilizational approach takes into account a wide range of symbolic and cultural sphere of socio-political reality. It offers the opportunity to explore different civilisations each of which retains its own logic of development, values and goals. The article explains the conflict of civilizations in Ukraine. In a synthetic form, it outlines Feliks Koneczny’s typology of civilizations. It also describes the circumstances and causes of the crisis of democracy in Ukraine in relation to conflict of Turanian and Latin civilizations. It concludes with an outlook of the future of democracy in Ukraine.
