Summary/Abstract: The main part of the publication is the presentation of conclusions from the interpretation of the poem by Wisława Szymborska – Hitler’s first photograph in the context of studies into photography by Susan Sontag and Roland Barthes. In the process of interpretation, the author shows different ways of using photography in the poetry by Szymborska. Additionally, the presented text has an interdisciplinary nature. Due to the used form it refers to the art of photography, and due to its content it refers to the universal history. In conclusions there are presented some ideas for including this poem into lessons of Polish language.
