Summary/Abstract: After Britain’s decision to leave the European Union, a new situation has emerged, where smaller European financial centers are struggling to attract, in practice to deprive London at least of a part of its financial business. The main competitors in this respect are Frankfurt, Paris, Luxembourg, Dublin and Amsterdam. The short-term perspectives for London include hardships and partial loss of its financial business. No doubt a part of London City’s business will relocate to smaller European financial centers and that will lead to fragmentation of the financial services industry in EU. Europe has one global financial center – London and this cannot be expected to change in the foreseeable future.
