Comparative analysis of investments in tourism in Bulgaria and in the other EU member states

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is a comparative analysis of capital investments in tourism sector between Bulgaria and the other member-states of European Union to be presented. In this regard, firstly, the significance of investments for competitiveness improvement of tourism sector of a country is revealed. Then, using the appropriate indicators, tourism investments in Bulgaria are compared to those of the other member states of EU. A particular attention has been paid to the comparison between Bulgaria and some other specific EU countries, which are direct competitors of Bulgaria in terms of the national tourist markets they are trying to attract and the tourism products they are offering that are the same as those of Bulgaria. Finally, some conclusions are drawn and recommendations are given, which correspond to the overall study presented in the publication.
