Summary/Abstract: Although industrial tourism is not a new concept, very little research has examined the factors that influence the successful implementation of the idea in the Bulgarian context. The aim of the paper is to introduce a conceptualisation of industrial tourism and to recognise benefits and constraints for the future development of the concept in Bulgaria. To meet the objectives, the author examines some representative examples and discusses the practical examples in Bulgaria. The results are compared with some European best practices and successful models. The investigation acknowledges the anchor points that influence this type of tourism and outlines the feasibility for future development. At a practical level, the study provides suggestions and contributes to ideas for further development of industrial tourism in Bulgaria.
