Summary/Abstract: We are witnessing how dynamically the processes in the field of international money, capital and credit markets are developing and what the consequences could be for the financial and banking systems of the individual countries. The global crisis has affected every country in Europe although it has been triggered by processes in the US financial markets. This fact shows how important can be, on the one hand, the introduction and widespread use of increasingly complex financial instruments which at the same time stimulate the assumption of unreasonably high market and credit risk, and on the other hand, the (in)ability to take timely and adequate measures by the relevant regulatory and supervisory authorities to offset these risks.
