Summary/Abstract: The 20th century disrupted the translation’s paradigms and took great care in preserving the linguistic and cultural difference, moving the stress from language to text. Nowadays, the translation makes an effort to keep the presence of the original in the receptive language without trying to domesticate the foreign. This way it achieves the “Test of the Foreign” (Berman) thanks to the “linguistic hospitality” (Ricœur) offered to the Other from the “tribe” of those who are in the same language (Mallarmé).
