Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the history of the Warsaw Housing Cooperative Rakowiec. It presents both its beginnings connected with the interwar movement of housing cooperatives and its ideas, the expansion after the end of World War II developing the concept of a social housing estate, as well as its contemporary character. The subject of the article is the long lasting of selected architectural, urban and social ideas related to building and functioning of this type of housing complexes.
