Summary/Abstract: Intercultural education is an important component in teaching languages. Cultural awareness is necessary for learning and developing intercultural competence. The article attempts to establish which elements of cultural heritage form the mental image of the young Chinese learning Polish language. It discusses what of their centuries-old tradition Chinese students consider worth introducing to the Poles. The analysis of the gathered material shows a crucial component of the self-stereotype of contemporary heirs of the five-thousand-year-old civilization.
