Summary/Abstract: Photography today became a pop culture and images in general are ephemeral – they appear and disappear in a matter of days, serving a short lived causes in a continuously hungry for visual references environment. This article will analyze some of the fundamental tendencies of the images nowadays, as they became something different than a keeper and preserver of information, which was the main purpose of the documentary photography for example. The turnaround or the transition of the roles author-spectator changes the communicational channels in society. The ocean of images today serves multiple functions, but paradoxically appears quite ephemeral.
