Summary/Abstract: The coronavirus pandemic and the measures to curb it persuadеs humanity of the crucial importance of the telecommunications industry for the functioning of society. This paper examines the role of the telecommunication industry for managing and overcoming the crises in the EU countries due to the coronavirus pandemic. The authors` aim is to describe and analyze the challenges and the opportunities for the European telecommunications sector. Observation, inductive and comparative analysis are among the methods used. The main finding is that the coronavirus pandemic tests the capacity of telcos to survive in a state of emergency, but it also provides opportunities to develop their social responsibility, acquire new sources of revenues and regain better image and governmental support.
