Summary/Abstract: In this article the author interprets specific provisions of the Contract About Legal Issues Between the Republic of Croatia and the Holy See arguing that the wording of the Contract is poor and leaves room for much interpretation. Because of that, numerous problems emerged in practice. The author singles out especially the necessity to come to an agreement regarding the terms “appropriate replacement” and “adequate compensation” so that the restitution of taken property can be carried out. There are other problems such as: non-working Sunday which is an issue that burdens state-church relations for years, but it seems that this problem will not be resolved in the near future. Secondly, the tax status of the Church and its legal persons is not legally resolved as yet, and there are many opposite stands on the subject. Finally, the author analyses the inviolability of Church premises.
