Summary/Abstract: The Trump administration and state authorities have engaged the armed forces to limit the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States is also using the military to help other countries affected by the pandemic. At the same time, exercises with allies have been limited. When the pandemic abates, the U.S. defence budget will be scrutinised not only in terms of cuts forced by the economic crisis but also in connection with better preparation of the U.S. armed forces to combat the effects of epidemiological threats.
