Short Description
“Lingua” is the yearly publication of “Lingua Centre for the Development and Improvement of Communication in the Public Sphere”, “Babeş-Bolyai” University, Cluj-Napoca. It was first issued in 2002 and comprises two series – A. Linguistics and B. Culture and Civilisation. The contributions are in Romanian, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish by Romanian and foreign authors. The goal pursued by the journal is to provide a framework for the dissemination and discussion of those findings that are the result of new and fundamental approaches to theoretical or applied linguistics and to the study of culture and civilisation. Through its mission, the publication is intended to be a pool of the research preoccupations both of the Lingua Centre members and of the other contributors from Romania and abroad. The journal is part of a cultural exchange programme that is being run by our Central University Library and whose participants are important Romanian and foreign universities. Since its foundation, “Lingua” has been published regularly and has had a beneficial influence on the academic community in Cluj, as it addresses researchers in disciplines such as linguistics, literature, anthropology, history of ideas, as well as language teaching practitioners functioning with applied languages departments of Romanian and foreign universities. With the bginning of year 2010 Lingua A. "Linguistics" and Lingua B. "Culture and Civilization" have merged under the name "Lingua. Language and Culture"
