2013 m. Nobelio literatūros premija skirta Kanados rašytojai Alice Munro (g. 1931). Tai pirmas atvejis, kai premijuotas vien apsakymus kuriantis rašytojas. Iš pirmo žvilgsnio Munro apsakymų personažai yra paprasti mažų anglosaksų provincijos miestelių gyventojai, kurie netikėtai ima priešintis ir laužyti nusistovėjusias gyvenimo normas. Šiame straipsnyje taikant sociopsichologinius metodus analizuojami apsakymai „Mrs. Cross ir Mrs. Kidd“ ir „The Bear Came Over the Mountain“, kuriuose moterų personažai dėl fizinės ar psichikos ligos nebegali gyventi savarankiškai. Slaugos namuose, vienoje iš griežčiausiai reglamentuojančių Vakarų visuomenės institucijų, apsakymų protagonistės sugeba tęsti tai, ką sociologai vadina „gyvenimų naratyvais“, ir susikurti „galimas tapatybes“. Rašytoja jų pastangas traktuoja ironiškai, bet ne pašaipiai, ir atskleidžia netikėtus būdus, padedančius apsakymų veikėjoms išlaikyti savo orumą.

The paper analyzes the realistic worlds recreated by Canadian writers of Asian descent and proves that, although Canada is a multicultural country representing itself as a utopia, discrimination and racism survive as a contemporary scourge. Moreover, the paper will relate in more detail to the historical situations depicted in the novel.

The electoral campaign, the debates between the candidates, and the election results are analyzed on the basis of the statistics provided by the National Institute of Statistics, the Department of Statistics of Dolj County, the database of the parties involved in the elections, as well as numerous articles published in local and national press.

A manuscript from the Florin Medeleț Fund at the MNaB is published (typed document, 9 A4 pages, undated, transcribed by Valentin Cedică). The author, Ion Dragomir (Gornea, November 23, 1927 – Reşita, August 13, 2011), graduated from Oravița High School and Arad Pedagogical Institute, worked as a teacher in Gornea. He was director of the General School and the Cultural House in Gornea. Passionate about history, he founded in 1969 the Village Museum in Gornea (officially inaugurated on July 27, 1969), which today bears his name. He was a close collaborator of archaeologists from Cluj, Reşița, Timişoara, Sibiu, Bucharest, who carried out archaeological research in the area. He was author and co-author of archeology and ethnology studies and author of the Gornea village monograph (2003). The present paper refers to archaeological materials resulting from field research carried out by the author in localities in the Danube Gorge: Liborajdea, Gornea, Liubcova etc.

Bee pollen was tested as potential green corrosion inhibitor of bronze in simulated acid rain in a weakly acidic solution containing Na2SO4 and NaHCO3 (pH 5),simulating an acid rain in the urban environment. Potentiodynamic polarization, scanningelectron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (SEM-EDX)techniques were used to evaluate the inhibitive performance of bee pollen against bronze corrosion. Potentiodynamic polarization revealed that the bee pollen acts as a mixed-type corrosion inhibitor; its inhibiting efficiency increases with increasing the pollen concentration attaining the maximum value of 74.7% in the presence of 100 ppm pollen. SEM-EDX analysis confirmed that bee pollen is able to retard the bronze corrosion in a simulated acidic rain solution.

Consiliul științific al Academiei de Științe Juridice din România (înființată prin Legea nr. 139/2015) s-a întrunit în zilele de 8-10 iulie 2022 în cadrul sesiunii științifice ordinare pentru dezbaterea planului de activități specifice momentului. Organizarea dezbaterii consiliului a revenit și de această dată vicepreședintelui Academiei Române, domnul prof. univ. dr. Liviu Bogdan Ciucă. Spunem că a revenit și de această dată, amintindu-ne noi de precedenta și splendida reuniune din 30 august – 1 septembrie 2019, gazdă fiind atunci „Domeniile Panciu”. La succesul sesiunii au fost asociați: Camera Notarilor Publici Galați și Facultatea de drept și științe administrative, Universitatea „Dunărea de Jos” din Galați. Sesiunea a debutat cum nu se putea de bine, printr-o splendidă și plină de învățăminte conferință susținută de remarcabilul om de știință, prof. dr. Dumitru Constantin Dulcan, cunoscut mediului științific național și internațional pentru lucrările sale: Inteligența materiei, Oglinda conștiinței, Mintea de dincolo ș.a.

The N.I.S.T. agenda describes the activity of the institute’s researchers during the first half of this year. This is a short review of participation in symposiums, round tables, book releases, openings of document exhibitions, where the participants discussed issues related to the access to documents from the communist period and the debunking of certain huge historical mystifications. The exchange of ideas was the great advantage of these encounters and the published works show the true value both of the organizational effort and of this serious scientific approach.

Existing aircraft blade design was converted to digital models which were analysed.
