The paper deals with the analysis of the function of student art groups as a form of studies in the system of professional training. Social and personal conditionality of artistic education, the interaction between artistic education and professional training, the significance of group activities for the specialist’s culture and competence are discussed in the paper. Relying on that a theoretical model of evaluation of art groups as a form of studies and the principle of organising their activities, which combine a specialist’s cultural development, his / her socio-cultural integration and professional training, are proposed.

The article deals with the concept of creativity, creative researches, features of a creative personality, discusses dependence of creativity upon a person’s age and some aspects of creativity training. The research showed that the features of a creative personality are differently interpreted and not a single one can mark creative people. Ontogenetic studies show that creativity reaches its peak in adolescence and later becomes less expressed although in some spheres mature works are created later in life. Two conceptually contradicting opinions about the development of creativity exist among researchers.
